The Dr. Bob and Jean Smith Foundation was established in 1989 by the late Charles Robert Smith, M.D., a respected Dallas pediatrician. Throughout his distinguished 30-year career, Dr. Smith cared for countless children and played a formative role in shaping health care in Dallas. He co-founded Doctors Hospital in East Dallas and served as its chief executive officer for 25 years. He also founded Doctors Healthcare Center and Arcady Health Services Corporation, further expanding access to quality care in our region.

Today, under the leadership of Jean Smith as Chair and CEO, the Foundation continues to support higher education, medical education, research, and health initiatives — extending Dr. Smith’s legacy of service and generosity.
