Honoring a Legacy of Service: Joyce Cooley Receives 2026 Heart of Caring Award
Every two years, Christ’s Family Clinic recognizes a volunteer who exemplifies a true heart of service through their care for others. At our 2026 Gala, we were deeply honored to award the Heart of Caring for Others Award to Joyce Glenn Gardner Cooley, posthumously.
Born on May 13, 1934, in Deport, Texas, Joyce lived a life defined by faith, kindness, and quiet strength. A devoted member of Preston Road Church of Christ, she lived out her beliefs through service, compassion, and a genuine love for others.
Joyce was a beloved and dedicated volunteer at Christ’s Family Clinic, where she faithfully served at events—most often welcoming guests at registration with her warm smile and gracious spirit. Even at our final event in February 2024, despite serious illness, Joyce made the decision to be present, greeting others with the same joy and hospitality that defined her life.
Those who knew Joyce will remember her for the way she made everyone feel seen, valued, and loved. Her humility, reliability, and servant’s heart embodied the very mission of our Clinic, and her impact will be felt for years to come.
Though her absence is deeply felt, we are grateful to celebrate a life so beautifully lived. Joyce’s legacy of generosity and compassion continues to inspire all of us.
We were honored to have her son, Clay Cooley, and daughter-in-law, Lisa Cooley, accept the award on her behalf.
